Former SDNY Supervisor Michael Gerber Joins LSW
Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP is pleased to welcome Michael Gerber as its newest partner.
Michael, a former U.S. Supreme Court clerk, comes to the firm following nine years as a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). There he served in various leadership roles, most recently as chief of the Violent and Organized Crime Unit. During his time in government, Michael oversaw hundreds of criminal cases and dozens of criminal trials. He prosecuted or supervised cases involving a range of criminal offenses, including racketeering, financial crimes, violent crimes, and narcotics trafficking. Michael received the Henry L. Stimson Medal from the New York City Bar Association in 2020 and the Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney from the Department of Justice in 2018.
“Michael will provide tremendous value to our clients,” said LSW founding partner Frank H. Wohl. “His many successes, most recently as an SDNY unit chief, are proof of his remarkable work ethic and dedication to the law. His integrity, legal ability, and leadership skills will add further depth and strength to our firm.”
Partner Jillian B. Berman added, “Michael is the best of both worlds: a deeply intellectual lawyer who is also immensely practical. He embodies the dynamism that defines our firm.”
At LSW, Michael will handle a variety of criminal, commercial, and regulatory matters. “The attorneys here are rigorous thinkers, wonderful colleagues, and tenacious advocates,” he said. “I feel so lucky to be joining this great firm and to have the opportunity to work with such outstanding lawyers on behalf of our clients.”
Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Michael was an associate at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. He previously clerked for the Honorable David H. Souter of the U.S. Supreme Court and the Honorable Pierre N. Leval of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Michael graduated from Yale Law School and holds an A.B. from Harvard University.
