Katherine A. Lemire is the newest partner at Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP. At LSW, Katie will leverage her unique expertise in government enforcement and financial services regulation to provide superb legal services to our clients. Katie enhances LSW’s capabilities in navigating complex financial regulatory landscapes.  Over the forty years since it was founded, LSW has a proven record of excellence in high-stakes white-collar, regulatory, and commercial disputes in the United States and abroad.  Katie’s addition to the firm reinforces our commitment to providing cutting edge legal services to individuals and corporations in banking, insurance, cryptocurrency, and fintech.

Katie is a seasoned litigator and investigator, and has deep knowledge of, and experience in, defending criminal and regulatory financial services matters stemming from her varied experience in federal, state and local enforcement.  Her experience includes her appointment as Executive Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS), as well as her tenure as a partner in a national law firm where she represented individual and corporate clients in domestic and international matters.

At DFS, Katie oversaw enforcement, leading a team of more than 250 attorneys, investigators, and compliance staff in matters involving international banks, insurance companies, cryptocurrency businesses, money transmitters, mortgage servicers, student lenders, fintech companies, and other financial service providers. Katie also led initial enforcement investigations into violations of DFS’s cybersecurity regulations. She sat on DFS’s Virtual Currency Licensing Committee, where she guided the regulatory framework for cryptocurrency businesses operating in New York. Under Katie’s leadership, the division was recognized as a “powerhouse,” dedicated to safeguarding consumers and markets from fraud and ensuring compliance with both New York and federal laws.

Katie previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, handling complex federal crimes including public corruption, racketeering, and fraud.

Katie’s rich experience extends to state and city law enforcement as well. She was appointed Counsel and principal advisor to New York Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, managing a broad portfolio of operational, legal, and managerial matters for the New York City Police Department. ​Earlier in her career, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
