Paris Annual Meeting of EFCL features Gabrielle Friedman as Panelist discussing “Negotiated Justice” in Corruption Cases and DOJ’s New Enforcement Priorities
LSW partner Gabi Friedman joined an international panel of eminent attorneys at the European Fraud and Compliance Lawyers June 2025 Conference in Paris, convened around the topic “Calculating he Unexpected: best practices and pitfalls in international corporate bribery and ESG investigations.”
Gabi participated in a lively analysis with panelists from France and Italy of white-collar enforcement priorities and resolution mechanisms in their various jurisdictions. The panelists discussed enforcement initiatives of the new United States administration, particularly recent announcements of FCPA policies, and how they may affect investigations of non-U.S. corporates and individuals in corruption and fraud cases, a topic of great interest overseas.
The panel addressed the following issues, among others:
- “Negotiated Justice”– the evolution of negotiated resolutions of criminal charges against individuals and corporates in US, France and Italy
- A comparison of CJIP (“the French DPA”) with US DPAs and NPAs
- How are various prosecution authorities incentivizing voluntary self-disclosure, and is it working?
- How does the pressure on corporates to cooperate affect individual executives and employees in a cross-border investigation?
Co-panelists included Thibault Kempf, Andrea Puccio, France Chain and Vincent Filhol.
