Investigations & Compliance

In an environment marked by regulatory ambiguity and global scrutiny, clients turn to Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP to navigate their most sensitive internal and government investigations. Our team—including seven former federal prosecutors, a former state financial regulator, a former general counsel of an international law firm, and a former compliance officer—brings judgment, discretion, and rigor to the task. LSW guides corporations, boards, and executives through complex civil and criminal matters.

Internal Investigations

LSW conducts internal investigations with efficiency, independence, and precision. We represent board special committees conducting internal reviews domestically and abroad, individuals targeted by investigations, and witnesses participating in investigative processes.  Our experience across roles enables us to manage each matter with strategic clarity and a deep understanding of stakeholder interests.

When leading an investigation, we move quickly to establish the facts, evaluate risk, and balance the interests of key constituencies—from directors and shareholders to investors, donors, and regulators. We also advise on compliance enhancements and governance reforms designed to mitigate future risks. Our lawyers frequently serve as pool counsel, advising multiple witnesses in a single investigation while maintaining independence and confidentiality.

Cross-Border Experience

We regularly represent clients located outside the United States on U.S. components of cross-border inquiries. Many of our matters involve parallel investigations in multiple jurisdictions. We work closely with local counsel and adapt our approach to varying legal systems and corporate cultures to ensure coordinated and effective outcomes worldwide.

Regulatory and Enforcement Advice

Clients rely on LSW for evaluations of potential criminal and regulatory exposure, guidance on voluntary self-disclosures, engagement with enforcement authorities, and strategic governance advice. Our work on behalf of public companies, private businesses, not-for-profit entities, and individuals reflects our broad experience in both government and private practice.
